Oasis: A Side and B Side

2014 marks the 20th anniversary of Oasis debuting to the world, and as is often the case with such round anniversaries, we're seeing a stream of

Two examples worth watching:

1) "Oasis: Definitely Maybe The Documentary," an hourlong look at one of the great debut albums in rock history, a Beatles-inspired masterpiece powered by two antagonistic brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher. As is the case with many celebratory documentaries, there's an A Side polish that puts the band in a positive light.

2) And as sometimes the case with B Sides, we get less sheen but sometimes more satisfaction. Such is the case with "Oasis: DVD commentary highlights," which captures 10 minutes of raw reaction from Oasis guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher as he relives the band's videos from back in the day. Predictably for anyone who has followed the Gallaghers over the years, his wisdom is peppered with F-bombs, honest transparency and laughs galore. That pure emotion is half of what made the Gallaghers and Oasis so likeable and memorable, then.
